Salmonella Sense

Our real-time bacteria detection sensors assess water quality by continuously monitoring for Salmonella and other harmful pathogens

About Us

Salmonella Sense uses real-time qPCR technology, autonomous water sampling, and cloud-based encryption to bring unparalleled speed to bacteria detection.

Our qPCR-based Salmonella sensors autonomously sample any water source to identify distinct strains of Salmonella in under 60 minutes. Our rapid detection sensors continuously monitor the water for Salmonella, sending quantitative data to a secure cloud-based dashboard in real-time.

Our state-of-the-art sensors are able to detect distinct strains of Salmonella, such as Salmonella Enteritidis, Salmonella Typhimurium, Salmonella Typhi, Salmonella Newport, Salmonella Javiana, and Salmonella Heidelberg.

Applications

Salmonella is responsible for multiple outbreaks of foodborne illness every year. Salmonella is often associated with undercooked poultry, eggs, raw milk and cheeses, and vegetables. If consumed, contaminated food or beverages can cause illness ranging in severity from stomach cramps, fever, and diarrhea to Typhoid fever and other life-threatening infections.

Our fully autonomous Salmonella sensors can provide real-time updates on Salmonella contamination, preventing tainted products from reaching the public.

Food and beverage processing

Our rapid Salmonella sensors continuously monitor water along food processing lines. With fully automated sampling and data analysis, Salmonella contamination can be promptly eliminated, preventing product recalls and foodborne disease outbreaks.

Agriculture

Our autonomous Salmonella detection systems monitor for Salmonella contamination in irrigation water before it is used on any crops. Our sensors identify Salmonella in real-time, minimizing the spread of foodborne disease.

Fishing and aquaculture

Our Salmonella sensors deliver real-time water quality information to sustain food safety in aquacultural farms. Our fully automated platforms continuously monitor for Salmonella, preventing expensive recalls and production delays.

Wastewater monitoring and biosurveillance

Monitoring wastewater for Salmonella can provide an outlook on local contamination within communities. Our sensors test for Salmonella in real-time, rapidly identifying disease outbreaks for public health and safety.

Beaches, rivers, reservoirs, and more

Our Salmonella sensors continuously monitor any water source for Salmonella in real-time. Our fully automated monitoring platforms can conduct daily testing to keep our beaches, rivers, and reservoirs safe from harmful bacteria.

Pharmaceutical bioprocessing

Our rapid Salmonella sensors can be installed at multiple points in pharmaceutical bioprocessing facilities. With fully automated detection capabilities, our platforms continuously monitor for Salmonella before contamination can spread, avoiding substantial product loss.
